EUROMAR

Euromar organizes annual meetings on the subject of magnetic resonance, usually in the first week of July. The meetings are held in different locations within Europe, and cover all aspects of magnetic resonance, including NMR, ESR and MRI. This page introduces Euromar, with links to more detailed information.

Prior to 2005, there had been three large European magnetic resonance meetings: The European Experimental NMR Conference (EENC, a body loosely inspired by the very successful ENC held annually in the USA), which met every 2 years; the Ampere Congress, which held meetings every two years and focused more on the physics aspects of magnetic resonance; and the international meeting organized by the British NMR Discussion Group in alternation with EENC, which focused more on chemical aspects. It was agreed to merge the three meetings together and hold annual meetings covering all aspects of magnetic resonance, this group to be called Euromar, standing for EUROpean MAgnetic Resonance. Euromar is a subdivision of Groupement Ampere, which means that its finances are held in an Ampere account, and Euromar reports to Ampere; however it is not necessary to be a member of Ampere to attend Euromar meetings. Euromar has a formal set of Statutes, listed here.

The first joint meeting of the three bodies described above that was held under the name Euromar took place in Veldhoven, The Netherlands, in 2005. Subsequent meetings have been:

2005 Veldhoven, The Netherlands
2006 York, UK
2007 Tarragona, Spain
2008 St Petersburg, Russia
2009 Göteborg, Sweden
2010 Florence, Italy
2011 Frankfurt, Germany

With meetings planned for:
2012 Dublin, Ireland

See links above for details of these meetings. Some earlier meetings are listed here.

EUROMAR Committies

Euromar is run by a Board of Trustees, membership of which is described here. Every year the Board agrees on a location for the forthcoming conference and appoints a Program Committee, consisting of some local members and some members of the Board. This body is responsible for organizing the scientific program. In addition there is a Local Organizing Committee, which deals with local organizational issues. Euromar has no subscription or annual membership fee, but has a small fund to support the annual meetings.
